Steve Shaw was named the Southeastern Conference Coordinator of Football Officials on January 5, 2011 by Commissioner Mike Slive. Shaw, with more than 15 years of SEC officiating experience, was the unanimous choice of the athletic directors of the twelve SEC schools.
Steve Shaw was worked on the field for 14 post-season bowl games, including eight Bowl Championship series games. His last game was the 2011 Rose Bowl between TCU and Wisconsin. He has officiated two national championship games and been the head referee for four SEC Championship Games. Prior to officiating in the SEC, Shaw worked for six years as an official in the Gulf South Conference and as a high school official for 14 years.
Shaw was worked for AT&T for more than 30 years, most recently serving as General Manager of the corporation’s Connected Communities program. He is active in the Birmingham community where he has served on the Board of Directors of St. Vincent’s Hospital Foundation and as Vice-Chairman of the Regions’ Tradition, a PGA Champions event. Shaw is a graduate of the University of Alabama and is married to the former Jamelle Kabase.
