Tony Barnhart Speaks
The 2007 football season will be Tony Barnhart’s 31st as a reporter for newspaper, television and radio. Barnhart is in his 24th year with the Atlanta-Journal Constitution and currently serves as National College Sports Writer. In addition, Tony has his own radio show “The Southern Football Kickoff Show” on WQXI, 790
The Zone. Tony’s television show, “Talkin’ Football” is shown each Sunday night on CSS. Tony has written three books on college football: “Southern Fried Football – The History, Passion and Glory of the Great Southern Game”, “What It Means To Be A Bulldog” and his latest book, “Vince Dooley – My 40 Years
at Georgia.” Tony was named Georgia Sportswriter of the Year in 1999 and is a former member of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame’s prestigious Honors Court. In July of 2006, the received the Jake Wade Award from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Tony is a 1976 graduate of the Henry W. Grady School of Journalism at the University of Georgia. He lives in Atlanta with his wife, Maria. Their daughter, Sara, is a third-year student at the University of Georgia School of Law.
